ABOUT LEANNE GASSERT

Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Bruntsfield/Morningside, Edinburgh and Online

"I felt comfortable and at ease with Leanne which was vital for me. I felt that I could be open and free to talk about why I was there. I felt she was an excellent listener so when I came home I was able to reflect on her feedback and realise where I was up to in my life and more importantly what I wanted, which was wonderful."

My background

I grew up in South Africa during the brutal apartheid years, studying Law and Psychology to try to make sense of it all.

Later on I spent years working as a commercial and technology lawyer - in South Africa, England and Scotland - at a senior level in law firms and large corporates. That world gave me a deep understanding of professional pressure, organisational dynamics, and what it means to function at a high level.

My training as a therapist was at the University of Edinburgh, where I received a Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Counselling with distinction. My work as a therapist is based on a rich theoretical foundation, thousands of clinical hours and my own intensive personal therapy over the years.

The British Psychological Society has published my writing. I am registered with the BACP and my training is recognised by COSCA - Scotland's professional body for counselling and psychotherapy.
